Moose rescued after fall into Idaho basement

Moose rescued after fall into Idaho basement

KETCHUM, Idaho (AP) — Authorities say a moose is safe after she fell through an unlatched window into the basement of a Hailey, Idaho, home.

Law enforcement officers and those from the Idaho Department of Fish and Game arrived about 2:30 a.m. A Fish and Game officer arrived from Twin Falls about 5:30 a.m. and shot the moose with a tranquilizer dart.

Officers carried the approximately 600-pound animal up the stairs, and it ran off about 15 minutes later.

Man fights ticket with deer defense

NEWBURYPORT, Mass. (AP) — A man fighting a speeding ticket appealed the $105 fine by using a unique explanation.

Dennis Sayers of Haverhill, Mass., was ticketed in November for speeding. He appealed in court Thursday, asking the ticketing officer if he was sure the radar captured Sayers’ speed or that of a deer that could have been in the vicinity.

When confronted by the skeptical judge, Sayers said anything was possible. The ticket was upheld.
